Outlets have been reporting on OpenAI’s 4o model which has enabled the creation of convincing fake receipts and prescriptions. This raises concerns about widespread document fraud, including tax forms and IDs as existing detection methods are easily bypassed, exacerbating the challenge.
Below, a comment from Pierre Noel, Field CISO EMEA at Expel discussing the news! Specifically, the comment highlights how organisations can protect and mitigate under such circumstances.
“The capability of the OpenAI 4o model to make it incredibly easier for laymen to generate credible fake documents is concerning, and a step towards industrializing fraud to a new level.
Despite this, whilst challenging, organisations are able to mitigate this via two distinctions: the human firewall and further AI integration!
Employees are your first line of defence, and it is imperative that organisations are educating their workforce through means such as workshops or consistent up-to-date training courses to empower them to spot the fakes.
Furthermore, as we move through an era of AI innovation, it is important we train the AI tools leveraged for security purposes to train and identify fraudulent copy and imagery- especially as these advancements develop.”
