About ChatGPT and its security implications, a comment from Aubrey Turner, Executive Advisor at Ping Identity:
"Due to its convincing nature, the security implications of ChatGPT are endless. We know it can be misused for social engineering like phishing emails and scam text messages, in addition to generating fake news or social media post that spread misinformation. Because the engine learns from legitimate sources, it’s more likely to deceive people into taking a desired action, like clicking on a malicious link or divulging sensitive information.
“To reduce risk, organisations must be vigilant about validating information. If anything seems off in an email or text, for example, do not hesitate to confirm directly with the individual (voice call or speaking face to face is ideal.) Implementing intelligent multi-factor authentication (ideally phishing resistant) combined with risk signals is essential. Organisations that implement user training and education on how to identify such scams and provide employees guidance in their ’acceptable use policies,’ will benefit from added assurance and transparency."
